Captain Hunter’s Podcast is now Dr. L’s Podcast. During the pandemic, I went back to school and completed a doctorate in Leadership. While I still plan to hit on some policing stories, I will mostly pivot to self-improvement topics. Having overcome many mental hurdles, I think it’s time I gave back. I want to help people become the best version of themselves. I also plan to hit on love and relationship topics. Having gone through a divorce and returning to the dating market, I will speak about the mistakes I made along the way and how a mature man looks at dating. Seth Stoughton is a university professor and law scholar. He has written for numerous academic and investigative publications. I wanted to have him on the show to discuss police militarization and hopefully his thoughts on police body-worn cameras. However, our convo got deep into what good PD's do or what they should do that we never got to the reason for the interview. Don't worry I'm not going to turn into a media critic. However, I do think that there are many lessons which we can learn from the movie. The movie was supposedly set in the 1980s, however, we can see many ideas which are relevant for today. We will explore 3 main ideas that I found to be of importance. Mental health, society and culture and the one percent. These ideas obviously flow into and build off of each other. Dr. Dawn Perlmutter is a symbol and ritualistic crimes expert. She specializes in analyzing crimes scenes and interpreting signs and symbols in cultic, gang and other practices. She wrote an article for Law Enforcement Today concerning the Blue Lives Matter Flag and how some wish to link it to white supremacy.
